Well, we've all gone back to school. I have managed to survive my first full week as a 2nd grade teacher. I haven't been this exhausted since Lucy was born! I have a GREAT group of kids, most of which I knew (I looped with my 1st grade class), but I can't seem to get my act together like I usually have in the past. Don't get me wrong, the week was great, but man! I worked some L O N G hours :( I can't believe how fast summer came and went. But...now that the year has started, I'm sure ready for football and fall!
Bryan is in grad school on Saturdays and Mondays working to get certified in secondary education. I'm SO proud of how hard he's working! He is still jobless, but is beating the streets looking for one. Basically, he just needs a job until next August when he student teaches. He's not being too picky, but there are A LOT of people out of work right now. I will say, all his cooking and cleaning and "house husband" type chores have certainly made my life easier! However, they don't make him any money.
As for Lucy, she's still wild as ever. She is A YEAR AND A HALF now :( How in the world did that happen?!?!? She gets to move up to the 2 year old class next week at baby school. She's continuing to impress us with all she knows, and keeps us in stitches a lot of the time. Here are some of her stats:
-24lbs, 3oz. (50th percentile)
-32.5 inches tall (75th percentile)
-Hair still growing wildly
-Knows her ABCs
-Can count to 14
-Knows (and sings all the time) "Baa Baa Black Sheep," "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," "This Old Man," "Old Mac Donald" (who always has a cow :), "Pop Goes the Weasel, " "Row, Row, Row Your Boat," "Ring Around the Rosy," "BINGO," and various other songs that I've made up and interest her.
-She LOVES Elvis thanks to my mother!
-Currently obsessed with Dora, ELMO SLIPPERS, and Ernie (from Sesame Street)
-Knows her body parts
-Knows the majority of animals AND their sounds (including a "Wookie" thanks to her daddy)
-Is saying LOTS of phrases ("mommy's coffee" and "Buzz, Buzz, Buzz! I'm a bee--her Halloween costume, and then the other night at dinner...randomly..."Oh no! What are we going to do?")
-When she has gas, she comments with a "Poopt."
-LOVES books, and will now make it through a whole story (if she's in the right mood).
-Spells her name PERFECTLY. AND recognizes her name on things.
-Runs around the house naked holding her backside right before bath each night. Guess she never really gets to feel it seeing as how she wears that diaper 24/7!
-Sleeps with a pacifier in the mouth, and another in a death grip in her hand.
-Still sleeping pretty good at night, which is making everyone a bit less "dead-headed."
There is so much more she's doing. It is hard to keep up with all that she learns each DAY. This is definitley one of the most fun phases we've experienced so far. She's just a little sponge and we're loving every minute of it!
Wow Lori! Lucy is so smart!! I have some kindergarteners this year that can't recognize their name or count to 14. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have an awesome year teaching 2nd grade!!
